Cell phone numbers in Canada will be release to telemarketers in October 2009.
If you are called and it is a long distance number, you will be billed for the long distance call (as you usually are with a cell phone).
To avoid this, register your number with the Do Not Call registry.
National Do Not Call List
Note:
When you register, your phone number is added to the National DNCL within 24 hours. Telemarketers have 31 days to update their own lists, and you may receive calls within those first 31 days.
So register now.
