Harper's plagerized speech most likely from the same source as Howard's speech.

Peterborough Politics: Blame It On The Rain
Doesn't it make sense that maybe both Mr. Howard and Mr. Harper, both of whom were and are war hawks, might have received some "study aides" from friendly American sources to help them along? It may not be the best explanation, but it makes more sense than the published expert on intellectual property law plagiarizing a speech made half-way around the World three days earlier for his boss out of zeal. Mr. Harper and his party have a lot of explaining to do, but given their history on matters like these, I fully expect him to answer nothing, insult those who ask and avoid, avoid, avoid. If you hadn't learned yet, that's what the Conservatives call "Accountability".

NDP Tax Rate is competative

The Progressive Economics Forum » Is Layton’s Tax Rate Competitive?

The NDP platform would situate Canada in the middle of the Group of
Seven and well below major emerging markets. The most important
comparators are the United States and Japan. Much, if not most, of the
internationally-mobile capital in Canada is part of American and
Japanese multinational corporations.

Canadian Dollar Up 4 cents to $1 US

The Canadian dollar was at 96 cents US yesterday (Sept 29, 2008). Today it is trading at par - $1 US. Isn't it funny how the MSM always reports on it dropping, but rarely on it rising. You would think that a 4% rise in 24 hours would be something they would report on.
A month ago, it was trading at 94 cents. Now, it is back up to a level not seen since last winter.

For Election '08 Canada, the NDP may be the way forward

Borges Blogue: Militantly Undecided

The Federal Liberal Party no longer seems to represent the interests ordinary Canadians during this election campaign. They do have an impressive scheme, called 30-50, 30 percent reduction in the number of people in poverty, 50 percent reduction in child poverty. However their plan to implement is ridiculous, a few thousand dollars in tax credits is hardly the way to tackle poverty, which is simply an expression of the class antagonisms that are intrinsic in the capitalist system.

The New Democratic Party of Canada is far from advocating the democratic and socialist transformation of society for the betterment of all Canadians, however they do understand that the current system is not working, and have committed themselves in the past, and in the future towards reducing the gap between rich and poor, fighting poverty and inequality. The party is the only one that seems to genuinely care about the needs of the working class during this election campaign. That is why, for this election, one must support the NDP, while remaining and identifying as a Liberal.

Medical Bills Leading Cause of Bankruptcy [in the USA], Harvard Study Finds

Canadians - Register Here for the Do Not Call List

Lack of universal health care (like we have in Canada) caused the financial trouble in the USA.

The Rich Are Staging a Coup Right Now | PEEK | AlterNet
Health insurance? Mike, why are you bringing this up? What's this got to do with the Wall Street collapse?

It has everything to do with it. This so-called "collapse" was triggered by the massive defaulting and foreclosures going on with people's home mortgages. Do you know why so many Americans are losing their homes? To hear the Republicans describe it, it's because too many working class idiots were given mortgages that they really couldn't afford. Here's the truth: The number one cause of people declaring bankruptcy is because of medical bills. Let me state this simply: If we had had universal health coverage, this mortgage "crisis" may never have happened.

This bailout's mission is to protect the obscene amount of wealth that has been accumulated in the last eight years. It's to protect the top shareholders who own and control corporate America. It's to make sure their yachts and mansions and "way of life" go uninterrupted while the rest of America suffers and struggles to pay the bills. Let the rich suffer for once. Let them pay for the bailout. We are spending 400 million dollars a day on the war in Iraq. Let them end the war immediately and save us all another half-trillion dollars!

Don't let this happen in Canada. Stephen Harper wants to privatize our healthcare system. If he does, what happened in the USA can happen here. Vote against the Conservatives this election.
