Conservatives will welcome Gitmo prisoners, just not the CANADIAN one.

A BCer in Toronto: Conservatives will welcome Gitmo prisoners, just not the Canadian one <full post

How messed up is this!...
But while he's looking at helping Gitmo prisoners bypass the immigration process and settle in Canada, perhaps Kenney might heed the pleas of folks like Bob Rae and groups like Amnesty International and see what he can do for the CANADIAN CITIZEN, Omar Khadr, who is also stuck in Gitmo and whom the government has shown little interest in helping. Bring him home and let the Canadian justice system deal with the charges against him.

How can the Canadian justice system have anything to do with Khadr???Leave him to the Americans, that is where he belongs.
As far as Boob Rae and Amnesty, supplicating on behalf of a known terrorist is disgraceful.

Ah, that's just it. Omar Khadr is not a terrorist and there is no proof that he is a terrorist. He is not a known terrorist.

There is all kinds of proof that he is a terrorist.Witness the videotapes showing him making bombs, swearing jihad and gloating over how much money he will get for every American soldier he kills.Let us not forget Layne Morris who lost the sight in one eye in the firefight that killed Chris Speer.0h,by the way,0mar admits to throwing the grenade.Direct eveidence alone is enough to convict him.

Throughout the trials and discoveries therein, it has been found that:
There is no evidence to convict Omar - evidence that was found, points to the contrary.
Omar Khadr most likely did not throw the grenade that killed an American soldier
No one saw him throw the grenade
His wounds and medical records indicate that he was hit with the blast of an American grenade that Omar could not have thrown.
It was found that the confession he made was made under extreme duress to an officer who was torturing him and who was later convicted of murdering
another prisoner during interrogation (this other prisoner was later found to be completely innocent).
American soldiers were committing war crimes by shooting wounded after their attack, including shooting someone else who was still alive in the compound with Omar
Before the combat incident, a 500 lb bomb was dropped on the house where Omar was hiding.
When found, Omar was shot 3 times in the back
Omar was almost murdered by an American soldier. Omar was found sitting on the ground peaceably facing away from his captors, facing a wall. The American soldier was restrained by a superior
Omar has been tortured since he was captured

Under international law and convention, a fifteen year old cannot be considered a soldier (much less an ‘unlawful combatant’ which has no legal standing whatsoever), and cannot be held or tried for war crimes.
