Deregulation - The US did it and crashed. Stephen Harper wants to deregulate here too. I guess he doesn't read the news.

Best Jack Layton quote this week:
The
troubles in the financial markets “are the clearest possible warning
that the North American economies under Conservative governments, both
in Canada and the United States, are on the wrong track,” said the NDP
Leader.
“Conservative governments don't do their jobs. They
don't keep their eyes on the stock promoters and the bond sellers and
the mortgage brokers and bankers. Today, we see the results.”

Led Zeppelin to tour without Robert Plant?

Led Zeppelin plan to audition new singer | The Sun |Showbiz|Bizarre
Plant has not committed to the tour, while the band (Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham (John Bonham's son)) rehearses with stand-in singers for an up-coming North American tour.
Maybe he doesn't want to tour as his voice is not as good as it used to be.

Advancement in supercapacitor research could improve things for cars
Important Twist in Supercapacitor Research
The team, along with legendary nanotechnology
pioneer Dr. Ray Baughman, developed a means to create supercapacitors
using “paper” sheets of single-walled carbon nanotubes embedded with a
special polymer called polypyrrole.
Imagine if the boxy, heavy car battery morphed into something
light, strong, perhaps paper-thin and flexible that could be molded to
fit elsewhere in the vehicle—even hidden in plain sight. Getting rid of
the weight and bulk of batteries could prove especially helpful in
hybrid car designs, which today rely on a suitcase-sized array of
hefty, metal batteries. And that’s just one application.

NY Times Highlight Conservative Bungling
Impolitical: New York Times highlights Conservative bungling of the listeriosis outbreak
The editors of the medical journal and others have drawn a parallel between the Harper government’s handling of the listeriosis outbreak and an outbreak of tainted drinking water that killed seven people in Walkerton, Ontario, in 2000. The Conservative government that was in power in Ontario at that time could not overcome a widespread perception that its regulatory cutbacks led to the Walkerton deaths and it was defeated in a subsequent election.

What Dipper Chick Said
Dipper Chick: Awaiting the launch of notanenvironmentalist.ca
So if he's not a leader, can't/won't take on Harper, and he's not actually a green crusader....
what exactly does Stephane Dion have to offer?

Conservatives are Fiscal MIS-managers.
Accidental Deliberations: Myth-busting
The Cons' claim that their combination of reckless tax cuts and
politically-motivated spending hikes somehow qualifies them as
responsible fiscal managers has been laughable at the best of times.
But can we finally put the myth to rest when even Stephen Harper admits that his government has been throwing around more money than it should?

Conservatives to continue to expose Canadians to fatal health risks
Une femme verte: Conservatives to kill meat inspection in Manitoba: Ag Union
The government of Stephen Harper has steadily cut funding for food safety programs and shifted responsibility for safety assurance to the food companies themselves.
Remember the lysteria outbreak already!? Many people died because of the Conservative government reducing on-site inspections. And they want to do it out West now too.
Another good reason to NOT vote Conservative - they will make it easier for you to get killed by un-safe food.

Another empty promise from Harper
The Galloping Beaver: Harper's latest promise is empty
Before you get carried away, this isn't a $5000 return to you. It's
a tax credit, so it's only really about $750 at best. And it's not

Then of course, there was a little more information flowing from the cavities of Harper's entourage. (Emphasis mine)

10 Favorite Actors from Geeky Movies and TV

Our 10 Favorite Actors from Geeky Movies & TV | Geekdad from Wired.com
Our criteria are simple: to make this list, an actor must have been in two or more classic geeky movies or TV shows, be they science fiction, fantasy, super-hero, horror/monster, or whatever. They must have made an indelible impression with their work. It helps if their characters spouted some really quotable lines, and it really helps if at least one of their roles went on to develop true "cult" status.

Harper's Hidden Agenda of Service Cuts
The Harper Index - Hidden agenda of cuts could follow Harper win
Funding for public services will dwindle due to corporate tax cuts - CLC economist.
Remember the Harris Government in Ontario? The same thing will happen to Canada if you re-elect the Conservatives to run the federal government - deficit (they've already put us into a deficit by giving away too much to large corporations, especially to foreign oil companies), increased debt, and cuts to services (which means less money for our healthcare, less for senior support, etc).
