Surprising things that affect memory
Surprising Things That Affect Memory - Forbes.com
While many know the basics when it comes to keeping their minds sharp (stick with those crosswords), a crop of new research is showing that lifestyle choices may play an even bigger role than people realize, particularly in terms of memory. Factors--some positive, some negative--range from diet to unlikely medications and hormonal changes.

Israel continues to show contempt for Palestinian life.

I'm not surprised at all. There has been evidence of such behaviour for decades. But this area is under a much more watchful eye of the world now than ever.

Is Apple losing the plot?
Is Apple losing the plot? - The Inquirer

APPLE IS KNOWN FOR A LOT OF THINGS, being overpriced, having nice design, attracting fanboys who religiously believe that Steve Jobs is a Messiah. But for years the build quality of the gear has never been questioned.
Now it seems that Apple has reverted to the days of the Apple II which used to catch fire even if you looked at it in a funny way or did something to place the electrics under pressure... such as turning it on.

Conservatives Hate Canada
Montreal Simon: The Con Conspiracy to Destroy Canada
Wake up and smell the reality people.

Wake up and smell the reality people.
So here's the question: how long can we call this a Conservative government....instead of a Bush Con conspiracy to destroy Canada ?
How long before we recognize the true face of the alien ENEMY ?
And how will we EVER explain this one?
Even though there were twice as many of US than there were of THEM.....sixty-four percent to thirty-five. We let the Cons use the recession to destroy our country. Because we weren't UNITED.
So how DO we explain that one? Because future generations WILL want to know why we let the Cons dismember our country piece by piece. Why we didn't realize it wasn't a political game...it was an ideological WAR.
Oh boy. We can still crush these foul fascist Cons who are raping our beautiful country. But the great awakening better come soon.
Or there won't be much Canada left to save.....

New fossil of a sea monster found
Fossil sea monster's bite makes T-Rex look feeble | Science | Reuters

The 50 ft (15 meter) long Jurassic era marine reptile had a crushing 33,000 lbs (15 tonnes) per square inch bite force, the Natural History Museum of Oslo University said of the new find on the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.
"With a skull that's more than 10 feet long you'd expect the bite to be powerful but this is off the scale," said Joern Hurum, an associate professor of vertebrate paleontology at the museum who led the international excavation in 2008.

Environmental impacts on human intelligence
Guest Column: Can We Increase Our Intelligence? - Olivia Judson Blog - NYTimes.com
It used to be believed that people had a level of general intelligence with which they were born that was unaffected by environment and stayed the same, more or less, throughout life. But now it’s known that environmental influences are large enough to have considerable effects on intelligence, perhaps even during your own lifetime.
